Plant Dying with Oshadi

Hidden colours coaxed from palash flowers and indigo leaves create the hues of our collection from Oshadi. Magentas, blushes, and shades of blue, derived from nature.
Meaning "essence of nature" in Sanskrit, Nishanth Chopra founded Oshadi to invigorate and share the work of skilled textiles craftspeople in India.
Plant dyes are used to tint sustainable, natural fibres of organic cotton, non-violent silk, linen, and wool using traditional methods.

Oshadi Robe Coat dyed with Palash flowers

Oshadi Robe Coat Dress in Naturally Dyed Burgundy
The vibrant reds and pinks of palash flowers are also used to create colours for Holi festivities. Known as flame petals or flame-of-the-forest, palash petals have embodied love and the coming of the spring season in literature and poetry.

Oshadi Natural Dyeing Indigo

Full Boxy Jacket in Organic Indigo Pinstripe Cotton
A workwear-inspired jacket in 100% handwoven organic cotton, dyed by hand in India.
Using fermented indigo leaves to dye fabrics produces the vibrant blue hues of our Full Boxy Jacket in Organic Indigo Pinstripe Cotton.  People have been naturally dying fabrics with indigo plants all over the world for centuries. It is only after emerging from the vat that indigo dye oxidizes and becomes the blue that comes to mind when we think of indigo.
